Ever since its release, fans can't seem to get enough ofMiraculous Ladybug. For the most part, fight scenes are well-animated and typically involve a fun mixture of creative villain designs and innovative ways to save the day via Ladybug's Lucky Charm.

And while he might not possess the ability to de-evilize villains and capture Akumas, Ladybug's trusty partner, Cat Noir, is just as important to the overall plot as she is. Adrien seems like a picture-perfect character, being beloved by his classmates as well as a popular model. However, almost everything he does is to appease his father and gain his approval, and he's constantly barred from opportunities to just live a normal life. There's a lot about him underneath the surface that fans might not be aware of.
10 He Only Becomes A Model To Spend More Time With His Father
Adrien doesn't become a model because of his good looks and refined personality. Nor does he really want to become a model in the first place. He's not pressured into it by his family, either.
He becomes a model for what might be the saddest reason of all. It's his father's fashion brand, and he becomes a model for it in the hopes that he'll be able to receive more of his father's attention if he does so. Seeing as Gabriel is barely ever present at Adrien's shoot, it's a sad and safe assumption that this isn't how things turn out.
9 Including The Cat Miraculous, Adrien Has Wielded Four In Total
Adrien is primarily the holder of Plagg, the Cat Miraculous. However, there have also been times where Adrien is called upon to wield other Miraculous as well, and has wielded four in total including the Cat.
Aside from his usual Cat Miraculous, Adrien has wielded the Ladybug, Snake, and Rabbit Miraculouses as well. He's also been shown to be Snake Noir, which is a superhero form that combines the powers of both the Snake and Cat Miraculouses.
8 It's Imperative That Adrien Doesn't Discover His Father's Evil Identity
It's imperative that Adrien never discovers the true identity of his father—and it's not for the reasons one might think. After discovering that his father is really Shadow Moth in the Season4 episode "Ephermal," Adrien makes the decision to hand over his Miraculous to his father and is Akumatized.
This episode is one of quite a few that also show just how vital the Snake Miraculous is to prevent the world from falling into chaos. If it weren't for the Snake's ability to go back in time, this would have spelled the end of everyone's favorite heroes right there.
7 "Kuro Neko" Shows That Miraculous Holders Are Capable Of Altering Their Superhero Identities
Ladybug is seen changing up her overall appearance, but it's assumed that this is simply because she's the holder of the Ladybug Miraculous which represents creation. However, it's shown in the episode "Kuro Neko" that even Adrien can do so with the Cat Miraculous.

He gets it into his head that Ladybug doesn't appreciate everything he does for her, and gives up on being Cat Noir. Plagg convinces him to instead devise a brand-new identity for himself using the Cat Miraculous, and he changes himself into Cat Walker, with an incredibly altered suit, haircut, and most notably no bell on his collar.
6 Despite Being A People Person, Adrien Can Freeze Up In Certain Situations
Adrien is a people person who loves being around others. He's also incredibly considerate of other peoples' feelings and does his best to make everyone feel involved, and is more than willing to give second chances even to people like Lila and Chloe.
This is a result of his upbringing—he's incredibly sheltered by his father and often feels ignored by him and doesn't want others to feel the same. However, because of his sheltered upbringing, he can freeze up and act awkward in certain situations, such as when he attempts to go on a one-on-one date with Kagami.
5 Adrien Is Used To Managing His Negative Emotions Which Stops Him From Becoming Akumatized
Akumas prey on and feed off of negative emotions. It's what allows them to take control of people, using their negative emotions to control them and give them power when they're at their lowest points and able to agree to anything—even bringing Hawk Moth the Miraculouses.
However, it's noted that Adrien hardly ever becomes Akumatized despite the fact that he feels negative emotions on a pretty regular basis. He's used to feeling disappointed and is able to handle these emotions in a way that doesn't attract any akumas.
4 As Cat Noir, He'll Continue Fighting Even If He's On The Brink Of Death
Though Adrien is typically cool and collected, he changes completely if someone he loves is in danger. He's described by Gabriel to be similar to his mother in this regard, becoming overly headstrong when it comes to other peoples' safety.
For example, he still tries to fight Riposte even after his ankle is sprained. In a more extreme case, his ribsget broken when his Cataclysm is used against him, and even on the verge of death, he continues to fight.
3 He Has Three Alternate Forms That He Can Access As Cat Noir
After Master Fu translates an old spellbook, both Ladybug and Cat Noir gain the ability to transform into alternate versions of their superhero selves. These forms give them different powers depending on which they use, and both have been seen to have three in total as of Season 4.

Cat Noir gains access to Aqua, Ice, and Space forms. His Aqua form gives him enhanced swimming capabilities and the ability to breathe underwater. His Ice form fittingly lets him better traverse icy terrain, as well as handle colder temperatures than normal. Finally, his Space form allows him to breathe in space and comes with a jet pack for better movement.
2 The Original Version Of Cat Noir Is An Entirely Different Character Named Felix
Originally, fans refer to Adrien (the version from the original concept anime) as Felix, after a famous cartoon cat. For a while, the name Felix did appear on the French version of Zagtoons' official website.
However, over time these sources disappeared and instead began to refer to him as Adrien. It was later revealed that Felix is the name of the original Cat Noir from the anime, and that he and Adrien are two entirely different characters.
1 His Name References His Father's Ability To Akumatize People
Adrien's name comes from the Roman word "Hadrianus," which means "from Hadria." Hadria was the namesake of the Adriatic Sea during the Roman Empire. Because the Adriatic Empire was known for its darkly-colored beaches, the name is commonly translated to "dark one."
His last name, Agreste, is the French name for the Greyling butterfly. Because of this, his full name can be translated to mean "dark butterfly," which is a reference to his father Akumatizing people using dark butterflies.
