How can I check my NJ Medicaid status? ›

If you applied for NJ FamilyCare coverage through the website www.njfamilycare.org, or by phone, you can track your application's status by calling 1-800-701-0710. If you applied for NJ FamilyCare coverage through a county welfare office or board of social services, your application still may be in process.

Call us at 1-800-682-9090 (TTY 711), 24 hours a day, seven day a week.

Medicaid is a separate program from WFNJ, but when you apply for WFNJ benefits, your caseworker will also determine your Medicaid eligibility. As your income changes, so will your Medicaid eligibility. For more information, call the Medicaid Hotline toll-free: 1-800-701-0710.

You must renew your NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid) benefits every year. Watch for a renewal notice in the mail. NJ FamilyCare will send the notice. It may be a preprinted form or a blank application.

Except for full-time students, Horizon shall not be responsible for out of state coverage for care of a Medicaid member residing outside of NJ for more than 30 days.

(a) Each Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare beneficiary will be issued a permanent, plastic identification card, the Health Benefits Identification (HBID) Card. The front of the card will include the beneficiary's name and a 16-digit Card Control Number (CCN).

Simply sign in and click ID Cards to view and print an image of your card, or request a new one. You can also text “GetApp” to 422-272 to download the HorizonBlue app to view and share your member ID card. Doctors and hospitals will accept this image of your ID card.

The length of time necessary to process a Medicaid Application varies from county to county and is dependent on the quantity and quality of the financial information being submitted. In some counties, an application can be approved within 90 – 150 days. In other counties, it takes 6 months to a year.
